Medical decisions are ‘personal’ — but only for Sen. Elizabeth Steiner Hayward, apparently

Vaccines, personal decisions: Regarding “Banning most school vaccine exemptions a wise public move,” (Feb. 23): Whether you believe vaccines are safe or not, the government should not be in the business of mandating medical procedures. That is between patients and doctors. I believe this is the Legislature practicing medicine without a license. If they really want to protect health, then all kids who get live virus vaccines must be kept home from school for a month until virus excretion (“shedding”) is complete. Take a look at the public testimony. You’ll hear the bill’s sponsor, Sen. Elizabeth Steiner Hayward, strongly defend medical care as a “personal decision” — for herself.
